Compassion  +  Experience  +  Knowledge  +  Warmth  +  Empathy

About Me

I am a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice in San Francisco. I graduated with a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in 1998 from the California School of Psychology, CSPP - Alameda. I've been licensed since 2000, and active with clinical work since 1994. Founding member of Applied Neurobehavioral Associates, member of the American Psychological Association (APA), and San Francisco Psychological Association (SFPA).

I trained in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and have an interest in mindfulness meditation, holism, and a systems theory approach to the world. These fit well with my style and with what I know to be helpful for patients. Many of the techniques I regularly use are empirically supported, which means that they were found by scientific research studies to be effective; in other words 'they work'. This is very important to me.

I keep up with current events in the field of psychology through reading and continuing education activities. Over the years I've trained and worked in California and in South Africa in a wide range of settings including; private practice, non-profit organizations, and community health clinics.

My specialty lies in my work as a Cognitive-Behavioral therapist. I have extensive experience with people living with HIV, the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders, specifically panic disorder, and the LGBT community. In therapy I am non-judgmental, relaxed and supportive.

In addition to psychotherapy, I lecture in graduate programs at local universities.
